Stibůrkovo Pekařství

How a bakery’s website should work with the shop.

Stibůrkovo Pekařství homepage — cakes and pastries with online ordering for pickup in Benešov

Situation

Stibůrkovo Pekařství is a traditional bakery in Benešov. The craft and the shop were already there. People wanted to order ahead — bread, pastries, cakes made to order — and pick them up. What was missing was a way for an order on the website to arrive at the counter as something the bakery could prepare, without someone copying it by hand.

Decision

The next move was not a brochure website. The constraint was the handoff between the customer and the shop. The site had to show what the bakery actually makes, take an order for a specific pickup, and send that order to the shop automatically. Catalogue, ordering and the counter had to be one system, or the new site would only add work.

What was assembled

  • A new website and a product catalogue that matches what the shop bakes, including custom cakes
  • Online ordering for in-store pickup, with a date and a time the bakery can plan around
  • Automatic notices to the customer and the bakery when an order is placed, so the counter receives the order instead of a message to retype
  • One place for the shop to run orders, customers and products

What changed

The website became the front of the shop. An order placed online is a pickup the bakery can prepare. The catalogue, the request and the counter now describe the same thing.

What came next

Direction continues on that system: what the catalogue should offer, how pickup should work on a given day, and what the shop needs next. The following decision comes from how the counter actually uses it.
